Paul Martin

Chief Martin was the seventh member to be sworn in as Chief for the DRPS.
Chief Martin retired from the Durham Regional Police Service with more than 30 years of service. Chief Martin began his career with the DRPS in 1990, rose to deputy in 2012 and was name Chief of the DRPS in 2014.
Chief Martin aspired to be a police officer since high school. To retire as the Chief of Police was one of his greatest accomplishments. Chief Martin earned a reputation as an agent of change, and his legacy will endure through innovative and evidence-based practices being embedded into the organization’s fabric.
Durham Connect was established under Chief Martin. Durham Connect is a group of 45 agencies who meet regularly to discuss situations which are at risk in our community. The goal for Durham Connect is to reduce or mitigate the risk in our communities, connecting individuals and families to the most appropriate services to ensure a healthy and safe future.
Fun Fact
In his time with the service, Martin has served in operational and administrative units, including Tactical Support, Nuclear Security and Human Resources. He's also a past president of the Durham Children's Aid Society.
