Chief Rollauer was the eighth member to be sworn in as Chief for the DRPS.
Chief Rollauer began his career as a cadet with the Durham Regional Police Service in 1987.  He held numerous frontline and administrative leadership positions, including as the Officer in Charge of the Nuclear Security Division, as the Divisional Inspector for Whitby, as the Communications/911 Unit Leader, and as the Executive Officer to the Chief of Police.
Recognizing his outstanding operational and administrative skill and depth of experience, Chief Rollauer was promoted to Deputy Chief in November of 2018.  In September of 2020, the Board appointed Chief Rollauer as Interim Chief of Police. During his tenure at the most senior levels of DRPS Command, Chief Rollauer was recognized and admired for his calm, fair and direct approach, which enabled him to earn the trust and respect of the membership, the community, and elected representatives.  He led the DRPS through a challenging period and has helped to position the DRPS to excel in addressing community safety challenges in the future.
Fun Fact
Chief Rollauer always wanted to be a K9 officer but was never selected!
